Science Party Candidate by Adam Christopher Strange
Description: Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States. He saved the Union during the Civil War and emancipated the slaves. If we could 'program' morality I think Lincoln might make a worthy template.
This painting came to me during the 2004 presidential campaign when the United States was sharply divided over everything from moral values to the ideology of preemptive war. While the two parties were in a war of words, I was envisioning a future where presidential candidates could simply be hard wired never to tell a lie.
Perhaps we would be better equipped to stop the tradition of history repeating itself to humanities folly, if presidential candidates had the entire wealth of human knowledge within their own heads. Somehow, after the continued controversy over electronic voting machines, I think we are a ways off from electronic candidates.
