The Persistence of Memory
by Adam Christopher Strange

Description: A morphing of what many art historians regard as the two most famous paintings of all time, Van Gogh's Starry Night and Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Being a huge fan of the Surrealists I couldn't help giving them a nod by titling the piece "The Persistence of Memory" after Salvador Dali's famous melting clocks painting. Considering how memories tend to overlap and change, I'm not sure there could be a more appropriate title.

Original Painting

Of Little Consequence: This painting actually came to me in a dream. In the dream, I was standing in a museum marveling at this painting. Thinking to myself, "what a great idea". When I woke up I realized it was actually my own idea. The next day I hit the studio and proceeded to pump out ten of these before I found the one that seemed to equally embody both paintings.

Pastiche: 1) A musical composition consisting of a series of songs or other musical pieces from various sources. 2) A work of art that imitates the style of some previous work.
